Interview
The interview is an important part of the application process. It is designed to help you understand High School Year and for us to understand whether you would make a good match for the program. Typically, we will contact you within a few days after the interview to let you know if you have been accepted.
Things to prepare before the interview
You will be sent some forms prior to the interview, which you should fill out and bring with you. Gather together anything you feel describes you. Examples may include an award for academic excellence, a newspaper article you wrote for the school paper, a book of photographs you've taken and developed yourself, or an essay you wrote that was particularly good. Think of the interview as an opportunity to let us know what makes you, "you".
What to expect during the interview
During the interview, you will find out more about the program and will have an opportunity to ask questions. Usually there will be former exchange students on-hand to talk about their experiences. We also recommend bringing a parent or guardian along with you, so that they, too, can benefit from the information given or discuss any issues they might have.We will ask you questions, too! You will probably be asked about your family and how you relate to them, how you get along with others, what kind of student you are in school, how your grades are, what activities you like to do, etc. Other questions may include your familiarity with other countries and cultures, where you've traveled to, and what kind of things you would like to do while abroad.
